The Louisiana National Guard Patriot Scholarship provides funding for eligible mandatory fees for qualifying Louisiana National Guard members attending McNeese State University. The scholarship works in conjunction with the Louisiana National Guard Tuition Waiver and is available as funds are appropriated by the State of Louisiana.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Patriot Scholarship, students must:

• Be a member in good standing of the Louisiana National Guard.
• Be eligible for the Louisiana National Guard Tuition Waiver.
• Meet eligibility requirements for the State Tuition Exemption Program (STEP).
• Be pursuing an undergraduate degree.
• Be enrolled in at least one credit hour at McNeese.
• Remain enrolled as of the 14th class day.
• Be within the program's maximum period of eligibility.

Award Amount

The Patriot Scholarship covers eligible mandatory fees, including Student Association fees, assessed on the student's McNeese fee bill.

Award amounts are based on eligible enrollment and are subject to available state funding. Students may receive the scholarship for up to 12 semesters. Summer and intersession enrollment counts toward this maximum.

McNeese identifies eligible students and processes Patriot Scholarship awards after enrollment is confirmed following the 14th class day.

Scholarship funding is finalized on the student's account after McNeese receives payment from the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA). Because funding is provided by the state, payment may not be received until after the semester begins.
