Geaux Teach Scholarship

The Geaux Teach Scholarship provides financial assistance to eligible students enrolled in approved teacher preparation or alternate certification programs at Louisiana postsecondary institutions. The program is designed to support students preparing to become teachers in Louisiana.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Geaux Teach Scholarship, students must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen and, if required, be registered with the Selective Service.
  • Have been a Louisiana resident for at least two years immediately preceding July 1 of the applicable academic year.
  • Have a minimum 2.50 cumulative college GPA.
  • Be enrolled full time in an approved teacher preparation or alternate certification program.
  • Have a classification of sophomore or higher.
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the applicable award year.

Award Amount

The state-established maximum award is $5,000 per academic year.

Actual award amounts may vary based on available funding and the number of eligible students. Because funding is limited, meeting all eligibility requirements does not guarantee an award.

Continuing Eligibility

Students may receive the Geaux Teach Scholarship for a maximum of four academic years.

To continue receiving the scholarship, students must:

  • Maintain at least a 2.50 cumulative college GPA.
  • Remain enrolled full time in an approved teacher preparation or alternate certification program through the applicable census date.
  • Continue to meet all applicable program requirements.

How to Apply

Students interested in the Geaux Teach Scholarship must complete the online application through the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA).

Funding for the Geaux Teach Scholarship is limited, and not all students who meet the eligibility requirements will receive an award.

Geaux Teach eligibility requirements, award amounts, and program provisions are established by the State of Louisiana and are subject to change.
