Purpose

  1. To define the appropriate actions and responses to various crisis situations that may occur on the University campus.

Responsibility

  1. Any individual that witnesses a potential crisis situation shall contact University Police.
    1.   University Police will be contacted for all crisis situations.
      1.   Be prepared to provide the following information:
        1.   Your name, location, and telephone number
        2.   Location of incident
        3.   Name(s) of all parties involved, if known
        4.   Extent of injuries, if known
        5.   Any additional information you may be able to provide
  2.   McNeese State University Crisis Response Team will assist as needed for all crisis situations.

General Guideline

  1. On Campus Death
    1.   In the event of a known or suspected death, contact University Police by dialing:
      1.   #111 if calling from an on-campus extension
      2.   475-5711 if calling from a cell telephone or off-campus telephone
    2.   University Police will dispatch officers to the scene.
    3.   University Police will contact as needed:
      1.   Emergency Medical Services
      2.   Crisis Response Team
      3.   Other area agencies as needed
  2.   Mental Health
    1.   Call or have the individual call the McNeese Counseling Center at ext. 5136 and request an appointment.
      1.   If it is an emergency, request immediate attention
      2.   If it is an extreme emergency, contact University Police for assistance by dialing:
        1.   #111 if calling from an on-campus extension
        2.   475-5711 if calling from a cell telephone or off-campus telephone
  3.   Sexual Assault or Rape
    1.   In the event of a sexual assault or rape, contact University Police by dialing:
      1.   #111 if calling from an on-campus extension
      2.   475-5711 if calling from a cell telephone or off-campus telephone
    2.   University Police will dispatch officers to the scene.
    3.   University Police will contact as needed:
      1.   Emergency Medical Services
      2.   Crisis Response Team
      3.   Other area agencies as needed
  4.   Threat Or Act Of Violence
    1.   In the event of a threat or act of violence, contact University Police by dialing:
      1.   #111 if calling from an on-campus extension
      2.   475-5711 if calling from a cell telephone or off-campus telephone
    2.   University Police will dispatch officers to the scene.
    3.   University Police will contact as needed:
      1.   Emergency Medical Services
      2.   Crisis Response Team
      3.   Other area agencies as needed
