Emotional Support Animals

Animals may not be brought onto campus, or in an on-campus residence, until all paperwork has been completed and approved through the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) and the Residence Life office.

In order to be approved for an emotional support animal, the student must have a documented disability, and the accommodation of ESA must be considered reasonable and appropriate based on the disability.

Students must have the ESA Healthcare Provider forms filled out by their doctor and/or therapist and the ESA Veterinarian forms filled out by the animal’s veterinarian. Once this documentation has been completed, the student may then register on the OAS webpage. Once their registration and documentation are received, they will be contacted by the director to proceed with the next steps.

  • ESA forms must be updated and are due before the beginning of Fall semester and are current until the next Fall semester. They must be updated for every Fall semester.
  • Students must register with the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) every semester. However, ESA and VET forms are only due at the beginning of each Fall semester unless the student registers for the first time during Spring semester. In that case, the forms are due at the time of registration and will then be due again before the following Fall semester.

Ashley Bass

I am a McNeese graduate with a bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Science and a concentration in Child and Family Studies. As a student, I competed on the rodeo team and served on the SGA board. I earned my master’s degree in 2022 from the University of South Dakota in Educational Administration and Leadership with a concentration in Adult and Higher Ed. I have over 13 years of experience in adult education and 20 years of educational experience.

My favorite part of being a Freshman Advisor is helping students navigate their new life routine as a college freshman by offering support with in-person office visits or by email to help students meet their goals. I always remind students of my favorite BB King quote – “Education is one thing no one can ever take away from you.”  I believe that supporting students is vital to a student's success.

In my spare time, I raise registered American Brahman cattle, and I enjoy all the "country girl" things like hunting, fishing, growing a garden and cooking.
