McNeese Men’s Rodeo Team Is Second in Region
The McNeese State University rodeo men’s team is in second place in the Southern Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association after two rodeos.
The men’s team took first place at the Panola College rodeo in Tatum, Texas, where Kash Krogman placed first in bull riding.
In Saddle Bronc event, Izaah Bartles, of New Underwood, South Dakota, earned first place while Caleb Miller, of Welsh, earned second place, Jace Nixon, of Lake Charles, earned fourth place and Drew Bordelon of Ville Platte, earned fifth place.
In bareback riding Monty Fontenot, of Ville Platte, won second place, Kash Martin, of Lufkin, placed fourth and Devin Byram, of Welsh, placed seventh.
At the Southwest Texas College rodeo in Uvalde, Texas the men’s team placed third and the women’s team placed fifth.
Jude Leonards placed first in steer wrestling, and John Murphy placed seventh in tie down roping, both of Bell City.
In saddle bronc riding Miller placed first and Nixon placed fifth, and in bareback riding, Jacob Lamon, of Pollok, Texas, place third.
For the women’s team, Katelyn Schlang, of LeBleu Settlement, placed second in goat tying and Camryn Richard, of Moss Bluff, placed sixth in breakaway roping.
The rodeo team will compete in the Northeast Texas Community College Rodeo, Oct. 17 to 19, followed by the McNeese Cowboy Classic and 69th Annual McNeese Rodeo will be at the Burton Coliseum, Oct. 24 to 17.
