McNeese sponsors harp recital

The Louisiana Chapter of the American Harp Society is presenting a free spring recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 18, in the McNeese State University Band Hall sponsored by the W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts at McNeese.

The program will include works for solo harp, as well as work written or arranged for groups of two or more performers.

Works include “Orpheus With His Lyre” by William Schumann, based on a text from Shakespeare’s “Henry VIII,” and “Homeward Bound” by Maria Keen, as arranged by Jay Althouse, with guest artist, soprano Jenny Brunner, and chapter member Jane Clark on harp, and “Little David, Play on Your Harp.”

Musicians performing will be: Carlyn Fullington, Iowa; Lynette Babineaux, Barbara Belew, Carla Breaux, Jessica Dupuis and Gaylyn Fullington, Lake Charles; Patricia Horvath, Moss Bluff; and Mary Buller-Moore and Katie Evans, Sulphur.
