McNeese Is Hosting a Poetry Reading

McNeese Hosts Poetry Reading

McNeese State University’s Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing is hosting poet, Dilruba Ahmed, for a poetry reading on Friday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. in Bulber Auditorium. The reading is free and open to faculty, staff, students and the public and is sponsored by the Juliet Hardtner Endowed Professorship 

Ahmed is the author of Bring Now the Angels and has had poems featured in New York Times Magazine, The Slowdown and Poetry Unbound with Pádraig Ó Tuama

She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Warren Wilson College. Currently, she is a vsiting assistant professor of creative writing at Swarthmore College. 

Founded in 1981, McNeese’s MFA degree program is the oldest MFA program in Louisiana and one of the oldest in the Southeast.
