McNeese Ensemble Concert Set
The McNeese State University W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts will present a free concert by the Choirs and Ensembles at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, in Tritico Theatre. Choirs and Ensembles are under the direction of Dr. Darryl Jones, Director of Choral Activities. McNeese student pianist Julianne Marler will accompany Concert Chorale, Dr. Ulysses Loken will accompany the Chamber Singers and Mark Henry will accompany the Men’s and Women’s Ensembles.
The Women’s Ensemble will perform: “Wie will ich mich freuen” by J. S. Bach, “Alleluia, Amen” by Randall Thompson, “The Silver Swan” by Orlando Gibbons, “I Celebrate Myself” by Paul David Thomas, “Turn Around,” a Harry Belafonte song arranged by Ronald Staheli and “Being Alive” by Stephen Sondheim, arranged by Mac Huff.
Concert Chorale will perform “Resonet in laudibus” by Randall Stroope, “Je le vous dirai!” by Pierre Certon, “Miserere Mei” by Antonio Lotti, “Haec Dies” by Brant Adams, “Three Madrigals” by Emma Lou Diemer, and “Before the Parade Passes By” from “Hello, Dolly!” by Jerry Herman and arranged by Mark Hayes.
Men’s Ensemble will perform “Cantate Domino” by Giovanni Croce, “Beati Mortui” by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, “Hush’d Be the Camps Today” by Tim Winebrenner, “They Remain” by Anthony Bernarducci, “Mainacht” by Johannes Brahms and arranged by Randall Stroope, “What Shall We Do with a Drunken Sailor” by R. Douglass Helvering, “Music on the Water” by Robert Sieving, “California Dreamin’” by John and Michelle Phillips and arranged by Mac Huff, and “Sisi ni moja” by Jacob Narverud. McNeese horn student, Roxie Davis, will join the men to accompany the Winebrenner and Sieving selections.
Chamber Singers will perform “Das Neugeborne Kindelein” by Dietrich Buxtehude, “Music in the Night” by Elaine Hagenberg, “My Spirit Sang All Day” by Gerald Finzi, “You Are the New Day” by John David and arranged by Peter Knight, “Celebration Songs” by Johann Strauss, and “Jabberwocky” by Sam Pottle. Kaitlyn Colby will be featured on the Strauss, singing Adele’s “Laughing Song” with chorus.
