McNeese Chamber Recital 2019

The McNeese State University W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts will present an evening of chamber music at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Tritico Theatre.

The free recital will feature Judy Hand, flute, Beverly Jones, oboe, Jan Scott, clarinet, Susan Lauderdale, bassoon, Rod Lauderdale, horn, and Lina Morita, piano.

The program will include “Quintet in E-flat Major, K452” by W.A. Mozart, “Trois pièces brèves” by Jacques Ibert, “Three Shanties” by Malcolm Arnold and “Looney Tunes,” arranged by Bill Holcombe.

Hand is an associate professor of music at McNeese and teaches flute, chamber music, music history, ear training and class piano. She is currently principal flute in the Lake Charles and Rapides symphonies.

Jones, from San Angelo, Texas, is a 1987 McNeese graduate. She has been a band director in Southwest Louisiana for the past 30 years and is currently teaching band at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic School.

Scott is assistant performing arts department chair and heads up the Woodwind Studio for clarinet, saxophone and double reeds. She currently is principal clarinet with the Lake Charles Symphony and the Rapides Symphony Orchestra.

Susan Lauderdale has been a member of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra since 1993 and also performs with the Lake Charles and the Rapides symphonies.

Ron Lauderdale, assistant professor of French horn at McNeese, performs more than 30 orchestral concerts a year and currently plays with the Acadiana, Rapides and Baton Rouge symphonies as well as the Symphony of Southeast Texas.

Morita is an associate professor of music at McNeese. She has performed as a concerto soloist throughout the world, including the U.S., Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, France and the Czech Republic.
