McNeese State University is kicking off National Engineers Week with an open house on Monday, Feb. 23, from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. in Drew Hall, 500 Joe Dumars Drive in Lake Charles.
The Department of Engineering and Computer Science, part of the College of Engineering and Sciences, will offer students of all ages and their parents and members of the community an opportunity to tour the facility, watch demonstrations and visit with students and faculty.
Students will be demonstrating projects in civil, chemical, electrical, mechanical and computer engineering and computer science. Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers, Engineers Week is more than a week of recognition but a movement to inspire future innovators, spotlight the impact of the profession and strengthen connections across the field community.
Engineers Week Expo Day is on Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Local middle school and high school students will have the opportunity to watch and engage in demonstrations, visit with students and faculty and participate in competitions of skill and aptitude.
Conference Day is Wednesday, Feb. 25, with scheduled presentations from industry experts and resume reviews and mock interviews for current students. On Thursday, Feb. 26, is the Engineers Week Banquet.
