Banners at McNeese State University will present a free screening of the 2016 animated family film, “Sing,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28, in Stokes Auditorium in Hardtner Hall.

When theater owner and optimistic koala bear Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) finds his theater on the brink of closing down, he decides to hold a singing competition in the hopes of saving his business from ruin. But when a series of mishaps cause the competition prize to be mistakenly advertised as $100,000 instead of $1,000, a colorful cast of eager animals floods the competition in the hopes of taking home the prize.

Written and directed by Garth Jennings and co-directed by Christopher Lourdelet, the film stars the voices of McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson and John C. Reilly and features more than 60 songs from famous pop artists, including Taylor Swift, Carly Rae Jepsen, Leonard Cohen and Elton John.

Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Banners is supported by ticket sales, memberships, corporate sponsors and grants. For more information about the program, visit the Banners website at www.banners.org or call the Banners office at 337-475-5123.
