Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter, a 2007 history graduate, has been presented with the Shining Example Award for Governmental Tourism Leadership by the Southeast Tourism Society.
The award recognizes Mayor Hunter’s consistent vision and passion for developing partnerships with the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau and other tourism-related entities to promote the city as a desirable leisure destination.
Mayor Hunter was elected as mayor of Lake Charles in April 2017. He was previously a member of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury.
