McNeese SAGE Goes on the Road to Baton Rouge

McNeese State University Leisure Learning is taking the SAGE series on the road with the sightseeing daytrip, “Baton Rouge on the River,” from 7 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13.
Participants will visit the Louisiana State University Center for River Studies, the Shaw Center Art Gallery and the Louisiana Arts & Sciences Museum.
The LSU Center for River Studies is located near the banks of the Mississippi River and features the extraordinary Lower Mississippi River Physical Model – one of largest moving physical models in the world. This model is designed to simulate the river’s depth, sediment and flow for scientific study and is illuminated by 20 high-definition projectors, which bring the river and coast to life for visitors.
Then, participants will visit the Shaw Center Art Gallery to see the special exhibit “George Rodrigue: The Cajun Landscape,” featuring early landscape paintings by Louisiana artist George Rodrigue. Next, visitors will head to the Louisiana Arts & Science Museum, where Lin Emery’s “A Force of Nature” kinetic art exhibit is on display.
Participants will board the McNeese bus at 6:40 a.m. at the Cowboy Stadium parking lot on McNeese Street. To register, please visit www.mcneese.edu/leisure/sage. Cost is $99 until Nov. 6, then $109 after that date.
