McNeese presents Huerta and Young in joint senior recital

The McNeese State University W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts will present a free senior recital featuring Diana Huerta on trumpet and Tyler Young on Tuba at 7 p.m. April 30 in Tritico Theatre. Both will be assisted on piano by Lina Morita.
Huerta will perform “Voluntary No. 1” by William Boyce, “Concerto for Trumpet” by George Frideric Handel, “Valse De Concert” by Antoni Stepanovitch Arensky, “Danse Napolitaine from ‘Swan Lake’” by P.I. Tschaikowski, “Rondo for Lifey” by Leonard Bernstein and “Concert Etude” by Alexander Goedicke.
Young will perform “Tuba Concerto in F Minor” by Ralph Vaughan Williams and “Concerto for Double Bass” by Antonio Capuzzi.
The recital with close with both Huerta and Young performing “Duo for Trumpet and Tuba” by Erwin Chandler.
Huerta, from Austin, Texas, is a music education major at McNeese and has been a member of the McNeese Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Trumpet Ensemble and Aria Brass Quintet, as well as the 2015 Jersey Surf World Class Drum and Bugle Corps and the 2017 Intercollegiate Honors Band.
Young, from Westlake, is a music education major at McNeese and has been a member of McNeese’s Jazz Band, Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Pep Band, Aria Brass Quintet, and Honors Brass Quintet and a tuba section leader for the Pride of McNeese Cowboy Marching Band. He served as 2014 first chair tuba in the Louisiana All-State Honor Band and has also performed with the Calcasieu British Brass Band, the Lake Charles Community Band.
