McNeese LSBDC Offers Governmental Contracting Trainings 

Southwest Louisiana residents will have the unique opportunity to attend a “Building Wealth Through Government Contracting” training. Sponsored by the Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at McNeese State University, the workshops will be led by Louisiana district Small Business Administration (SBA) representatives. 

The LSBDC will host the training in the Henning SEED Center at McNeese on Tuesday, April 29, 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Trainings will also take place at Jennings City Hall on Thursday, April 17, 10 a.m. until noon and at the Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, May 7, 10 a.m. until noon.  

Participants will learn how the government buys goods and services, how to register their business with the U.S. System for Award Management and how to search, bid and obtain federal contracts using best practices. 

“The U.S. government is the world’s largest purchaser of goods and services. This is a special opportunity for Southwest Louisiana small business owners to learn how to become governmental vendors,” says Susan Thibodeaux, LSBDC at McNeese director.  

In fiscal year 2023, the U.S. government spent nearly $3.6 billion on Louisiana goods and services. Of that figure, more than $2.2 billion in federal contracts were awarded to small businesses in Louisiana.
