McNeese alumna to make presentation on STEM success and what it takes

Dr. Paula Gant, principal deputy assistant secretary of the Office of International Affairs in the Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., will make a presentation – “On Success in STEM: What It Takes for Women/Anyone to Succeed” – at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, in the SEED Center at McNeese State University.
A native of Louisiana, Gant received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from McNeese and a doctorate in economics from Auburn University.
The International Affairs Office has the primary responsibility in the department for international energy cooperation in energy, science and technology.
Previously, Gant served as the deputy assistant secretary for oil and natural gas in the DOE’s Office of Fossil Energy. In that position, Gant administered domestic and international oil and gas programs, including policy analysis and liquefied natural gas import and export authorization.
Gant has also worked for the American Gas Association and Duke Energy and has served on the faculties of Louisiana State University and the University of Louisville.
