Chamber Singers to Hold Concert

The McNeese State University W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts will present the McNeese Chamber Singers in a free concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in the Shearman Fine Arts Tritico Theatre. The Chamber Singers are under the direction of Darryl Jones, director of choral activities, and accompanied by Dr. Haeju Choi on piano.

The group will perform the “Missa Brevis in D Major”by W.A. Mozart. Student soloists include: Angelica Arroyo, Lara Connally, MaryKate Core, Rebecca Harris, Ty Royer, Jacob Voisin and Michael Voisin.  Curry Burton, a McNeese graduate, will also perform as a soloist.

The Chamber Singers will perform “Five Hebrew Love Songs” by Eric Whitacre, “Praise the Name of God With A Song” by Allen Koepke and “Ubi Caritas” and “Psalm 150” by Paul Basler.  Faculty member Rod Lauderdale, horn, will assist the singers on the Basler selections.  The concert will conclude with the “Neighbors’ Chorus” from the comic opera “La jolie Parfumeuse” by Jacques Offenbach.
