From academically gifted education to special education, each concentration’s scope is pragmatic and specialized, blending theoretical content with practical experience.

All candidates enrolled within this program are assigned to one advisor for accurate information. Smaller class sizes allow for one-on-one support and open discussions about current topics and experiences in the P-12 setting.

Currently, McNeese State University has one of the lowest tuition rates in the state. McNeese professors are well informed on state mandates and changes and continuously update their program to graduate candidates who are current in the field. After completing the program, professors continue to support alumni as they venture out into the professional setting. So, alumni have a support system that follows them throughout their career.

 

Service Learning: Candidates are offered to participate in one community service activity each semester supporting community efforts such as Habitat for Humanity, food drives, tutoring, etc.

 

Research: Candidates create a body of research throughout the program that culminates in a paper and presentation.

Candidates are able to work closely with professors to develop research and improve learning based on their own interests. Highly qualified professors who are out in the field and current in the state of P-12 education.

 

Professors in the program are experienced in their fields and remain current on literature and best practices in the field. Faculty continue to research and contribute to their disciplines through attendance and presentations at multiple national, state, and local conferences as well as having journal articles published.
