If you’re looking to become a middle or high school teacher and share your passion for learning with a new generation, McNeese’s Secondary Education Grades 6-12 Post-Baccalaureate Certificate (PBC) program is for you. Offered 100% online, this curriculum is offered in conjunction with many of our bachelor’s degree programs to allow you to graduate with both a valuable degree in the field of your choice, as well as initial teacher certification.

Following all current Louisiana state-mandated standards and program requirements, McNeese’s PBC program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation. Our curriculum encompasses both subject materials and educational practices necessary to be a successful teacher, including Tier 1 curriculum, planning, instruction, technology implementation and classroom engagement and management. With this certificate, you’ll be ready to start a career in education immediately after graduation.

In-classroom Residency Experience:

With classroom management and teaching support, you will complete a two-semester residency to become familiar with the growth of students, culture of a classroom and expectations of a teacher from the beginning of a school year through the end. During the final year in this bachelor’s degree program, you’ll also develop a performance portfolio, including a service-learning project. An assigned faculty member, along with a university evaluator and state-certified Mentor Teacher, provide evaluations and offer feedback to help you improve your teaching practices.
