2018-2019 McNeese Theatre Roundup
The Lake Area community is invited to meet the McNeese State University theatre program’s faculty, production directors and students at the annual Theatre Roundup at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, in Tritico Theatre.
Information will be available about the season’s productions, auditions and technical work and directors will give an overview of the upcoming theatre season and explain audition procedures.
The 2018-2019 season will begin with the production of “The Summoning of Everyman,” a Medieval morality play written in England during the 1400s, to be staged Oct. 24-28 in Tritico Theatre. The lessons of the play are delivered by allegorical characters, each one representing a variety of abstract concepts (i.e. Good Deeds, Material Possessions and Knowledge).
In the spring, there will be two productions—a musical, “Songs for a New World,” to be held Jan. 9-13 in Tritico Theatre and “The Autism/Asperger’s Project,” a production that continues McNeese Theatre’s effort to bring a special understanding to something that is misunderstood, which will be presented March 20-24 in Tritico Theatre.
Auditions will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, in the Tritico Theatre. A signup sheet has been posted in the lobby of Tritico Theatre. Auditions are open to all McNeese students, faculty, staff and area residents.
