    E. J. McCann owner of Three Nail Forge will demonstrate the basic blacksmithing skills needed to produce iron-forged pieces. He will demonstrate several different forging techniques and then allow time at the coal forge and anvil for students to develop the hammer control needed to produce things such as uniform tapers on 3/8" square stock,  shape a 2" ID ring, hot punching of holes in the work pieces.

The skills obtained will be used to draw down 3/8" square stock to a uniform taper on one end, then learn to use half hammer blows to forge down the other end of the 3/8" square stock.  At the end of the three night session the students will produce a very useful and decorative show piece to bring home and display for the delight of all to see.
