McNeese to Host First Pokes in the Oaks

McNeese State University invites the community to campus for the first Pokes in the Oaks celebration to be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, in front of F.G. Bulber Auditorium. This event is sponsored by the McNeese Student Government Association.
Pokes in the Oaks will feature live music from McNeese’s Zyde-Pokes, Rusty Metoyer and the Zydeco Crush, and the Chris Crump Trio. Tikiz’s Shaved Ice and Ice Cream, Freestyle Munchies and Velvet Pig food trucks will be on hand while Chartwells will have nachos and drinks, plus McNeese’s special Joli Blon beer for sale to those 21 and over.
A pep rally featuring the Pride of McNeese Marching Band and the cheerleaders will also be held to promote school spirit for Saturday’s game at 6 p.m. in Cowboy Stadium pitting the Cowboys against the Sam Houston State Bearkats.
Several campus parking areas will be closed at noon on Friday prior to the event, including Calcasieu and Lawton drives and the Burton Business Center parking lot. Vehicles will be directed to enter campus on Allen Drive off Sale Road and to park in the Shearman Fine Arts parking lot.
