McNeese Students Intern at Sasol
Sasol’s Lake Charles Chemical Complex welcomed three McNeese State University students for internships in the technical services area this summer.
Maelyn Moss, a chemistry and English major from Houston, Texas, interned in the research and development area. Jacob Waters, of Ragley, is a mechanical engineering major and interned with the reliability engineering group. Olivia Stark, from Sulphur, majored in chemical engineering and earned her bachelor’s degree before the internship was completed. She worked with the process engineering group.
“Undoubtedly the best part of the internship was the people! The research and development department was so welcoming and supportive,” Moss said. “I could ask anyone for help or to show me something and the employees were more than willing to take time out of their busy schedules to do so.”
Moss says the internship experience will help her in the future. Sasol prioritized opportunities to build professional skills in its internship program. She learned about resume building, interviewing and giving professional presentations.
Stark says the opportunity helped get her foot in the door and landed her a full-time position.
“These opportunities truly helped me build the skills and confidence for future endeavors,” Moss explained.
