McNeese Student Wins Literature Award
McNeese State University student Sarah Lognion presented a paper at the Sigma Tau Delta convention and won first place in British Literature presentations.
Lognion, a senior from Bell City majoring in history, authored a paper titled, “Measuring Prester John’s Footprint: Analysis Between Travel Narratives and Much Ado About Nothing.”
“I originally wrote this paper for a Shakespeare class in spring 2022. I tried submitting it for the Sigma Tau Delta Review in 2022 but was rejected,” Lognion explained. “I revised my paper last fall and submitted it to the 2024 Sigma Tau Delta convention and it was accepted.”
Sigma Tau Delta is an English honor society, but Lognion joined because she is minoring in English. She plans to go to law school or a graduate history program after graduation.
“This award is important to me because I am a first-generation student. I am particularly pleased that I won any award at all, let alone first place, at the first academic-related convention I have ever attended,” Lognion said. “I am proud to do my chapter honor by having won this award while a Sigma Tau Delta member at McNeese.”
