McNeese Rodeo Update

The McNeese State University rodeo team has completed two rodeo competitions this spring.
The women’s rodeo team placed second and the men’s team placed fourth at the Trinity Valley Community College rodeo competition in Athens, Texas.
In goat tying, Mia Manzanares, Opelousas, took first place.
In breakaway roping, Carly Hibbs, Prineville, Oregon, finished fifth.
In steer wrestling, Gabe Soileau, Bunkie, won first, Remey Parrot, Mamou, finished third and William Heinen, Jennings, finished eighth.
In tie down roping, Cole Frey, Morganza, finished second.
In bareback riding, Colton Onyett, Rangley, Colorado, finished third and Garrett Mouton, Lafayette, finished eighth.
In saddle bronc riding, Lathan Lyons, Eunice, finished fourth.
The men’s rodeo team won first place and the women’s team took sixth place at the recent Texas A&M University-Kingsville rodeo competition.
Frey and Zach Jongbloed, Iowa, tied for first place in the Men’s All-around category.
In saddle bronc riding, Ryder Sanford, Sulphur, placed first.
In tie down roping, Jongbloed finished second while Frey, finished third.
In steer wrestling, Soileau finished third, Frey finished fourth and Jongbloed finished fifth.
In team roping heeler, Logan Fontenot, Lake Charles, finished seventh.
In bareback riding, Onyett finished seventh and Mouton finished eighth.
In bull riding, Anthony Green, Cheyenne, Wyoming, placed eighth.
In goat tying, Kati Murphy, Kaplan, finished first and Jamie Leblanc, Walker, finished ninth.
In breakaway roping, Alexis Gunter, Sulphur, finished second, Kelsey Brashear, Lake Charles, finished fourth, Chloe Frey, Eunice, and Manzanares finished tied for fifth place and Kassie DeVeer, Geismar, finished tied for eighth place.
