McNeese Names Dean of Student Services

Kedrick Nicholas has been named dean of student services at McNeese State University, according to Dr. Chris Thomas, vice president for student affairs at McNeese. His appointment was approved at the February meeting of the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
“Having known and worked with Kedrick for more than a decade, I can strongly attest to his commitment to McNeese students, faculty and staff and our larger community. He is a man of great integrity with a passion for student success. He is intelligent and kind and I look forward to his continued service to McNeese,” said Thomas.
Nicholas said he is very appreciative of the opportunity to serve McNeese and its students on a higher level. “This university has been instrumental in my personal and professional growth and development. To be a catalyst for promoting the same opportunities for current and future McNeese students is motivating and exciting.”
Nicholas received his Bachelor of General Studies degree with a concentration in education and his Master of Science degree in educational/instructional technology both from McNeese and is working on his doctorate in educational leadership at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
At McNeese, he was recently associate dean of students. He has also served as director of campus life, engagement and student retention, assistant dean of student services, coordinator of student activities and a verification officer in the financial aid office.
He is the president of the Louisiana Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators and has served on its board for the past three years. He is a past recipient of the LACUSPA Mid-Manager of the Year Award.
He is also a past recipient of the National Adviser of the Year award given by the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities and is a member of the Southern Association for College Student Affairs.
Nicholas was one of 18 participants selected for the inaugural class of the University of Louisiana System Management and Leadership Institute, a program created to develop potential executive level professionals from within the nine universities of the UL System. He is a member of several university committees and has made numerous presentations at professional conferences.
