McNeese MFA Student Accepted into Summer Workshops

McNeese State University Master of Fine Arts student Matthew Moniz has been accepted into two prestigious summer workshops – the 2019 Community of Writers Poetry Workshop held in Squaw Valley, Calif., and the Tin House Summer Workshop at Reed College in Portland, Ore.
Both workshops are highly competitive and participants were selected based on the quality of their written work.
A native of Alexandria, Va., Moniz is currently a second-year poetry student at McNeese. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, where he majored in English and psychology.
“I’m excited to take everything I’ve learned in the classroom and workshops at McNeese and to build on it at both these workshops this summer,” Moniz says.
The Community of Writers Poetry Workshop takes place June 22-29. During the weeklong event, attendees will workshop their poetry, attend panels, talks and readings, and work one-on-one with staff poets.
The Tin House Summer Workshop, July 7-14, features workshops, seminars, career panels and readings by prominent contemporary writers. Attendees will also have networking opportunities with Tin House editors and guest agents.
