McNeese Senior Recital – Victor Medina

The McNeese State University W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts will present Victor Medina on trumpet in a free senior recital at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, in Tritico Theatre.
Pieces from the program include: “Scherzo in D minor” by Rafael Mendez; “Gymnopedie No. 1” by Erik Satie/arranged by Eli Cutler, with Matthew Broussard on trumpet, Lilla Faye Jackson on horn, Jeremy Smith on trombone and Tyler Young on tuba; “Sonata #1” by Allen Vizutti; “Gabriel’s Oboe” by Ennio Morricone/arranged by Longfield; “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin/arranged by Ridenour; and “Libertango” by Astor Piazzolla, with Jay Kacherski on guitar. He will be accompanied on piano by Lina Morita.
Medina is a music performance major from Houston, Texas. At McNeese, he is principal trumpet with the wind symphony and jazz band, a member of the Pride of McNeese Marching Band and symphonic band. He has been a two-time member of the Madison Scout Drum Corp International Band that has marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. He was a member of the Texas All-state Band and the Katy All-star Jazz Band.
