Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honors Society at McNeese State University, welcomed new members Annamarie Lawson, Katherine Booth, Victoria Self and Wendy Maggio.

McNeese Associate Professor of English Rita Costello and McNeese graduate and visiting lecturer Amanda Ogea presented papers at the Society for Comparative Literature and Arts (SCLA) in Atlanta, Ga. Ogea was elected to the board of the SCLA for a two-year term.

McNeese Assistant Professor of English Hyeryung Hwang chaired a session on “The Ethics of Translation” at the South Atlantic Modern Language Association’s 91st annual conference. She also presented a paper titled “Aesthetics of Mistranslation: World Literature and the Question of Untranslatability.”

Director of the McNeese Master of Fine Arts creative writing program Amy Fleury was awarded a two-week writer’s residency at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

Dorsey Craft Olbrich (MFA, MA 2016) won the 2019 May Sarton New Hampshire Poetry Prize for her poetry collection “Plunder,” which will be published in spring 2020. In 2020, her chapbook, “The Pirate Anne Bonny Dances the Tarantella,” will also be published.
