Fund for College of Nursing and Health Professions Established

On hand for the donation are, from left, Richard H. Reid, vice president for university advancement and executive vice president for the McNeese Foundation, Maurice Gold and Dr. Anita Fields-Gold.

The Maureen Bates College of Nursing Instructional Fund has been established through the McNeese State University Foundation from the proceeds of a sale of land donated by Dr. Anita Fields-Gold and her husband, Maurice Gold, along with Anita’s brother and sister-in-law, Susan and Mid Ray Clark, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, in memory of Anita and Mid Ray’s mother, Maureen Bates. The Foundation sold the gift of 17 acres in Bienville Parish for $51,350, with the monies designated for the fund to be used to purchase instructional materials for the McNeese College of Nursing and Health Professions. Fields-Gold retired in 2001 as dean of the College of Nursing and was awarded professor emeritus status in June 2018.
