Jessica DeJohn Bergen

Assistant Professor, Dept. of History

History

Dr. Jessica DeJohn Bergen earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Southeastern Louisiana University and later completed a second Bachelor of Arts in American Studies with minors in African American History and History at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She went on to earn a Master’s degree in History from the same institution and completed her PhD in History at the University of Texas at El Paso. Her major fields of study include Borderlands and U.S. History, with a minor field in French Imperial History to 1789.

She is currently working on a manuscript under contract with LSU Press. Her research interests include Acadian identity, the Civil War and Reconstruction period, and historical structures of power.
