Dr. Christopher Ludwig

Visiting Lecturer - Flute

Dr. Christopher Ludwig is a teacher, flute player, and singer from Orlando, FL. Currently the visiting professor of flute at McNeese State University, Dr. Ludwig oversees the flute studio while maintaining his own private studio in Houston, Texas. 

He holds his D.M.A. and M.M. in Flute Performance from Louisiana State University, where he studied with Dr. Katherine Kemler. He worked as the flute studio’s teaching assistant and graduated in 2024 with a minor in Jazz. He received his B.M. from the University of Central Florida under Dr. Nora Lee García. 

Chris is passionate about new music and loves making the strangest possible sounds on the flute. He is an avid chamber musician and enjoys playing music of all genres, from baroque to opera to jazz. In 2022, he premiered several new works at Carnegie Hall with the Constantinides New Music Ensemble, where he was positively reviewed for his “finely-tuned” playing. Previously, he has won concerto competitions with the Metropolitan Area Youth Symphony, the First Coast Wind Symphony, the UCF Symphony Orchestra, and the LSU Symphony Orchestra. He gigs regularly in Louisiana, Texas, and Florida while helping care for his grandmother in Houston. Most of all, Chris loves teaching his students and making music with his friends and family!
