Dr. Dimitrios Dermisis received his MS and PhD from the University of Iowa. His research interests include hydrodynamic and sediment transport processes in upland areas, coastal erosion and protection, flood mitigation, and improving engineering education. He has received various teaching excellence awards, including the ASCE Engineering Professionalism Award. He has taught more than 20 courses in the engineering curriculum and has been an advisor to the student chapter of ASCE for several years. Dr. Dermisis has authored several publications and currently serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Mountain Science.
