McNeese's Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting offers courses throughout the fall, spring and summer semesters, meaning accounting majors can pursue an accelerated pathway and earn their degrees faster.
Accounting is the language of business. If you can understand and analyze numbers from an accounting standpoint, you can work in almost any business or industry. Accountants play an important role in improving operations, reducing costs, enhancing revenues and increasing profits.
McNeese State University’s College of Business is AACSB accredited. We offer small class sizes taught by experienced faculty, networking opportunities, and accounting scholarships. Our accounting program is designed to prepare you for your chosen career path and to help you succeed! Many exciting career areas exist in accounting such as auditing, public accounting, governmental, managerial, and taxation.
Graduates are prepared to work in local industry through the College of Business’ special Certificate in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Business. (Completed within 120 hours of a Bachelor’s degree.)
The College of Business has a number of scholarships available to accounting majors, including the Ben Terrell Memorial, E.C. Schindler Memorial and Lake Charles Society of LA CPA scholarships.
Gain practical experience with public accounting or business firms in the Lake Area. Or, complete an internship closer to home over the summer. Internships provide valuable work experience that helps you qualify for professional certification.
From CPAs to practicing tax attorneys, faculty share their passion and expertise with undergraduate students and create additional learning and networking opportunities outside of the classroom.
Thanks to small class sizes with low student-to-faculty ratios, McNeese faculty can provide personalized academic and career advising. Accounting majors also benefit from a number of on campus student support centers, including the Career and Student Development Center, the Mathlab Tutoring Center and the Write to Excellence Center.
I am a McNeese graduate with a bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Science and a concentration in Child and Family Studies. As a student, I competed on the rodeo team and served on the SGA board. I earned my master’s degree in 2022 from the University of South Dakota in Educational Administration and Leadership with a concentration in Adult and Higher Ed. I have over 13 years of experience in adult education and 20 years of educational experience.
My favorite part of being a Freshman Advisor is helping students navigate their new life routine as a college freshman by offering support with in-person office visits or by email to help students meet their goals. I always remind students of my favorite BB King quote – “Education is one thing no one can ever take away from you.” I believe that supporting students is vital to a student's success.
In my spare time, I raise registered American Brahman cattle, and I enjoy all the "country girl" things like hunting, fishing, growing a garden and cooking.
