Private Education Loan Disclosure

Private Education Loan Disclosure (also known as Alternative Loan)

It is important to use all available resources and to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before applying for an alternative loan. You may be eligible for federal loans or grants which usually have much more favorable terms and conditions than alternative (private) loans.

Students interested in applying for an alternative or private loan are required to complete the Private Education Loan Applicant Self-Certification form.

Please be aware that final approval must be received from your bank before an alternative loan is deducted from your bill.

To process your alternative loan, an Alternative Loan request form will be required by McNeese State University and will be made available upon request of your alternative loan with your lender. This form authorizes McNeese to certify the alternative loan on the student’s behalf.  Once McNeese receives a loan request from a lender, the required form will be sent to the student via the student’s email.

If you are interested in applying for an alternative loan but unsure how to find reputable lenders, you may consult the list of historical lenders found below. This link allows students to research and compare alternative loan programs using FastChoice. We encourage students to research the terms and conditions of private lender before making your selection.

You have the right to borrow from any lender you choose, including one not on the historical lenders list. We are not permitted to recommend or endorse any lender.
