Letter from the Guest Editor

Robbie Hess

__________

Happy 2026 Pride, y’all! I am so excited for everyone to see this wonderful Pride issue we have curated this year. It has been such an honor for me to read through all the incredible submissions we received. This year, we tripled the number of submissions we got last year! I want to thank every single one of you who submitted, read, and shared our little slice of Pride. Without our readers and contributors, we wouldn’t be able to do this fulfilling work. I also want to shoutout our managing editor, Taryn White. Taryn was instrumental in helping to get this issue off the ground this year.

The LGBTQIA+ community faces attacks every day. I hope that this Pride issue is able to offer some little bit of hope for anyone that comes across it. I hope that the queer people that read this issue feel seen whether in a fiction (or nonfiction) story, a poem, or a piece of visual art. It is up to all of us to help build one another up. Greg Louganis said, “I am a firm believer that you don’t achieve greatness on your own. There is always someone there to lend a hand.”

I hope that this Pride issue offers you a hand.

– Robert Hess
