Chugs
Boudin’s annual pet issue is perhaps the nearest and dearest to my heart. The works are both a joy to read and heartbreakers, every last one of them, because of the nature and duty of our intended relationship to pets: to carry them to their end. But, the loss sometimes cracks open a window, an opportunity to become a steward for the next animal in need. On that note, I’d like to introduce my new favorite friend Chugs, or as I call him, Little Sir! Chugs is a chihuahua/pug mix recently adopted by my friend Emily, and I love him very much.
We received a record number of submissions this year, and I thank everyone who submitted; all proceeds will be donated to Do Good Dogs and Hobo Hotel for Cats in Lake Charles, LA. A special thanks goes to our judges Tara Flaherty Guy and Robin Michel, and a hearty congratulations to our 2026 winner, Jen Sepso, and runner-up, Scout Clancy Batreau.
