Letter from the Editor

Vallie Lynn Watson

__________

When I decided in late 2023 that Boudin would morph into a monthly, I knew the key to success was placing our incoming managing editor. We needed someone who was well-versed in all things lit mag, someone who recognized solid craftsmanship as well as the importance of featuring new and varied voices, someone who could handle strict deadlines, and most certainly, someone who was more tech-savvy than I.

In early 2024, Karris Rae, quietly and without credit, stepped behind the scenes and took charge of the complicated technical process of updating our platform in preparation for our changing publication needs, and made what seemed the impossible, instead, very possible. Over the eighteen months since that time, she’s made my job as editor a joy; I rest easy knowing that our magazine is in good hands. I use the present tense, “rest,” even though this issue marks the end of Rae’s time as our managing editor, because her mark of efficiency and professionalism established Boudin’s trajectory. In true fashion, Rae’s last issue, math-themed, is focused yet narratively expansive, full of beautiful, complex ideas, voices, and experiences, a fitting nod to her permanent stamp on Boudin. Enjoy!
