Summer is meant to be a time of rest, but our McNeese MFA students aren’t slowing down! Thanks to Leah Joseph, Boudin‘s got another wowza of an issue. Our Immigration and Displacement CFS brought in an unprecedented amount of submissions and Leah has selected some masterful, powerful writing. Robbie Hess is hard at work, selecting work for our first Pride issue, out next month. July will bring us a heartbreaker of an issue, as it will be managing editor Karris Rae’s final one–check out her math-themed CFS and send your best our way: https://boudin.submittable.com/submit

Several of our MFA students are headed to Opelika, AL, in a few weeks for Boudin’s first annual writing retreat, where they’ll have nine days of dedicated writing time as well as the opportunity to work with mentors Michael Martone (fiction) and Shanti Weiland (poetry).

Finally, we have just two weeks left in our first flash fiction chapbook contest (final judge Roxane Gay). I am so grateful to our chapbook managing editors, Meilyn Woods and Seth Lewis Rice, for all the work they’ve done so far (and all of the work ahead).

I continue to feel like the luckiest person on the planet to get to work with these amazing MFA students. They make me a better teacher, writer, and human.
