Moving to a new place means starting over–new house, new co-workers, new doctors–and for the most important members of the family, it means new vets and new dog-sitters. Raven, McKay, and I moved to the bayou eighteen months ago and feel lucky to have acclimated to our wonderful new home so quickly. It helps that we found a new pet-sitter very quickly; my pups fell in immediate love with my MFA student Taryn White!

This pet contest issue, our second annual, is near and dear to my heart, and there was no one better to place at the helm than Taryn, who has picked some fantastic work. I am also so grateful to Lucinda Kempe and Mark Williams, Boudin’s 2024 pet contest runner-up and winner, who judged our finalists and picked the winner: congratulations, Tara Flaherty Guy. Much appreciation to all who submitted; your submission fees all go directly to Lake Charles’ rescues, Do Good Dogs and Hobo Hotel for Cats. Thank you for helping us make a difference for these animals.
