McNeese Art Students Featured in Exhibition

(March 7, 2016) McNeese State University students enrolled in fall 2015 intermediate and advanced painting classes are featured in an exhibition that runs through April 8 at Art Associates Gallery located in Suite 208 of Central School Arts and Humanities Center at 809 Kirby St.

Artwork on display
Art Associates Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The class, taught by art professor Heather Ryan Kelley, focused upon a study of the human figure.

“At mid-semester the students were challenged to work on portraits of each other, and next, to create a self-portrait. The exhibition is an exploration of portraiture seen through each artists’ aesthetic sensibilities,” Kelley said. The manners of representation run the gamut from realism to gestural expressionism.

The exhibit - Face to Face: A Class Collection - includes the following student artists: Barbara Bonilla, Ashley Broussard, Zaner Cluse, Ron Gibson, Chengyang Jiao, Alexandra Landry, Stephanie Landry, Shannon Moore, Tess Moss, Jeremy Price, Colleen Stratton, Sarah Traske, Shannon Villanueva and Anna Whalley.
