a plank of cedar that would soon\nbecome a table in mary\u2019s kitchen.\nbut my father works with wood not bone, jesus said.\nhis question hung in the air before\nmeeting mary\u2019s faraway tree \nin her relative\u2019s land.\nher fingers trembled. her breath hitched. \nher garments were soaked with mud.\nshe only ever dug shallow enough to bury his smaller \nmiracles: a baby\nbird,       <em>it flew with wooden wings,\n     its body was stiff and speckled with gold<\/em>\n\nor a miscarriage,             <em>the month-old clot had slipped down her leg \n                     on her son\u2019s third birthday, red and pulpy and human<\/em>\n\nor a child\u2019s incisors                <em>please, is this enough for you \n                         yet, she begged<\/em><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>__________<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Quinton Okoro<\/strong> is a Black, nonbinary poet from North
