Howdy Rowdy Welcome Week 2021

August 16 -19 & August 23-25

The Office of Student Services is excited to welcome students, faculty, and staff back to campus for an in-person fall semester. Howdy Rowdy Welcome Week activities allows students to experience a mixture of education and engagement outside of the classroom. All activities involve free giveaways and other incentives. Mark your calendar to participate!

Week 1: Aug. 16-19

Monday, Aug. 16

Welcome Back Fest and Cowboy Community Day

9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Quad

Join the Office of Student Services and McNeese Student Government Association for an official kickoff to the fall 2021 semester. This program will include free food, music, giveaways, and interactive activities. Additionally campus support services departments will provide information about their operations, awareness materials, and educational resources.

Tuesday, Aug. 17

Student Organizations Fair and Meet the Greeks

9 .am. – Noon in the Quad

The annual Welcome Back Student Organizations Fair is a chance for students, faculty, and staff to become acquainted with many of the 100+ recognized student organizations. Among the organizations will be the McNeese fraternity and sorority chapters. All student organizations will be recruiting new members and sharing information about their plans for the new school year.  Music and refreshments will be available.

Wednesday, Aug. 18

Welcome Back Wednesday

10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the New Ranch/Quad

Student Life Coalition, the student led program board, will host a day of free novelties, food, and music in the Student Union-New Ranch and Quad.

Thursday, Aug. 19

Community Day

9 a.m. – Noon in the New Ranch

Local businesses and community service agencies in the McNeese area will have booths in the Student Union to culminate Howdy Rowdy Welcome Week.  Several businesses will be marketing their products and services, while others may be offering opportunities for part-time employment and internships for students. Most tables will offer free promotional items, samples, and prize drawings. COVID vaccinations will be available onsite.

Week 2: Aug. 23-25

Monday, Aug 23

Campus Ministries Day

9 a.m. – Noon in the New Ranch

Several McNeese campus ministry organizations will be present in the New Ranch Atrium to distribute information to students about services they provide along with how to join their organizations.  There will also be information available regarding attendance to their worship services, meetings, and free lunch programs. 

Tuesday, Aug. 24

SGA and SLC Day

10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the New Ranch

The McNeese Student Government Association will host a day to show its appreciation of the McNeese student body.  Come to this event to learn more about how you can be connected to and involved with the organizations.  There will also be free food, music, and cool giveaways.

Wednesday, Aug. 25

Wellness Wednesday

9 a.m. – Noon in the New Ranch

Wellness Wednesday will feature on and off-campus programs that promote student wellness.  In order to succeed in college (and in life), it is important to be WELL. There will be tables with information and resources on the following health topics: academics, physical, emotional, nutritional, sexual, and social. The Recreation Complex will provide information about its revamped wellness program relaunching during the fall semester.
