McNeese Women's Rodeo Wins Competition

(April 24, 2015) The McNeese State University women’s rodeo team took first place while the men’s rodeo team took second place at the Hill College rodeo competition in Hillsboro, Texas, over the weekend.
           
Kirsten Smith, St. Francisville, won the women’s all-around championship.
           
Smith also won the breakaway roping event, while Paige Plush, Merryville, and Sterling Baylor, Bunnel, Fla., finished fourth and fifth respectively in the competition.
           
Stacey Devall, Denham Springs, placed second in the barrel racing competition.
           
In the goat tying event, Kyla Foster, Sweetlake, finished third, Smith finished fifth and Jacquelyn Gregory, Lamar, Mo., finished sixth.
Brant Brummett, Reeds, Mo., won the saddle bronc riding competition.
           
In steer wrestling, Tristan Martin, Sulphur, placed third.
           
Jesse Anderson, Unionville, Mo., placed fifth in the bareback riding competition.
           
Ike Fontenot, Ville Platte, placed fifth in tie down roping. Fontenot and Trace Porter, Leesville, finished in sixth place for the team roping competition, while Brian Fontenot, Ville Platte, and his partner finished in seventh place.
