McNeese Rodeo Update

(June 15, 2016) After three days of competition, several McNeese State University rodeo members are currently among the top 25 in the various categories of competition at the 68th College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., that runs through Saturday, June 18.
 
After three go rounds, Chad Rutherford, Burleson, Texas, is No. 2 in bareback riding.
He placed first in his third go round Tuesday evening, with a 17th place in his first go round on Sunday and 22nd in his second go round Tuesday morning.
 
After three go rounds, McKenzie Cooper, DeQuincy, is in 11th place in goat tying. She had a rocky start on her first go on Monday, placing 53rd, but she took 29th place in her second go Tuesday morning and tied for sixth place Tuesday evening in her third go round.
 
Cole Frey, Morganza, is No. 25 in team roping after placing 26th in his first go on Monday and 16th in his second go round on Tuesday. His third go round is on Wednesday, June 15.
 
Alex Edmonds, Paris, Ark., is No. 25 in the bareback category after placing 20th in his first go on Sunday and 25th in his second two go round on Tuesday. His third go round is scheduled for Thursday.
 
Mia Manzanares, Opelousas, is in 30th place in breakaway roping after two go rounds with her third go round on Wednesday.
 
Finals are set for Saturday and the top 12 qualifiers in each of the nine events qualify for Saturday’s championship finals.
