McNeese Rodeo Team Update

(March 27, 2017) The McNeese State University men’s rodeo team placed first while the women’s team tied for sixth place at the recent Texas A&M University Rodeo March 17-18.

Cole Frey, Morganza, was the men’s all-around champion. He also finished first in team roping and placed third in tie down roping.
           
Gabe Soileau, Bunkie, placed first in the steer wrestling competition and he and his teammate Camron Fontenot, Ville Platte, finished in fifth place in team roping.
           
In bareback riding, Colton Onyett, Rangely, Colo., tied for first place, while Sandro Ferretti, Verquieres, France, placed sixth.
           
Lathan Lyons, Eunice, finished in third place and Ryder Sanford, Sulphur, finished in fourth place in saddle bronc riding. Jace Gilbert, Sulphur, tied for fourth place in tie down roping.

In goat tying, Mia Manzanares, Opelousas, finished in fourth place while Ashleigh Young, Arlington, Texas, placed eighth.

In breakaway roping, Aldyn Ashton, Sebring, Fla., finished in ninth place.
