McNeese Fall Rodeo Wrap-up

McNeese Rodeo Team National Rankings
After competing in five rodeos this fall 2015 season, the McNeese State University women’s rodeo team is ranked No. 10 in the nation by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. The men’s rodeo team is ranked No. 23.
           
Mia Manzanares, Opelousas, is ranked fourth in the nation for women’s all-around. Manzanares is also nationally ranked fourth in breakaway roping and No. 10 in the goat tying category.
           
Chad Rutherford, Itasca, Texas, is nationally ranked No. 15 in the bareback riding competition.
           
In saddle bronc riding, Brant Brummett, Reeds, Mo., is nationally ranked at No. 21, Tyler Baeza, Beaver Dam, Ariz., is ranked No. 22 and Matthew Ellender, Carlyss, is ranked No. 23.
           
Southern Region Rankings
In the Southern Region’s rankings, the women’s team is in first place, while the men’s team is in fourth place. Manzanares is regionally ranked No. 1 in women’s all-around. She is also ranked first in breakaway roping and the goat tying categories.
           
In breakaway roping, Aldyn Ashton, Sebring, Fla., is regionally ranked at No. 6. 
           
In the goat tying competition, McKenzie Cooper, DeQuincy, is in third place, Raeleigh Whitfield, Sulphur, is in sixth place, and Carly Hibbs, Pineville, Ore., is ranked No. 10.
           
In bareback riding, Rutherford is in first place, Alex Edmonds, Fort Scott, Kan., is in third place, Jesse Anderson, Unionville, Mo., is in fourth place and Sandro Ferretti, Verquieres, France, is ranked No. 10.

In the saddle bronc riding event, Baeza is in third place, Brummett is in fourth place, Ellender is in fifth place and Camron Fontenot, Ville Platte, is ranked No. 10.

In bull riding, Cole Trivette, Statesville, N.C., is regionally ranked No. 9.
 
McNeese Rodeo Results
The women’s rodeo team took home first place while the men’s rodeo took fourth place at the McNeese Rodeo at Burton Coliseum.
           
Manzanares placed first in breakaway roping and first in goat tying. She was also named the women’s all-around champion.
           
In bareback riding, Rutherford took first place, Edmonds placed fifth and Anderson finished seventh.
           
In goat tying, Whitfield took second place and Cooper finished fifth.
           
In breakaway roping, Samantha Little, Hackberry, placed third and Kayla Keller, New Boston, Mich., placed fourth.
           
In saddle bronc riding, Baeza took third place and Ellender placed fifth.
           
Jace Gilbert, Sulphur, and Matthew Frey, Morganza, finished in eighth place in the team roping competition.
 
Sam Houston State Rodeo Results
In the final rodeo of the fall season at Sam Houston State University, both the men’s and women’s teams took fourth place.
           
Manzanares placed first in women’s all-around and also took home fourth place in goat tying. She was seventh in the breakaway roping competition, while Kayla Ratliff, Live Oak, Fla., placed 10th.

For the men’s team, Edmonds took first place in the bareback riding competition, while Rutherford placed second and Ferretti finished seventh. 

In the saddle bronc riding category, Brummett finished in fourth place and Baeza finished fifth.

Patrick Carlton, Wauchula, Fla., finished eighth in steer wrestling.
