This policy ensures the protection of the University\u2019s data and technology infrastructure while enabling the use of personal devices for University-related activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading display-3 heavy\">Scope<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This policy applies to all McNeese State University employees, students, and contractors who access University systems, data, or applications using personal devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading display-3 heavy\">Definitions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>BYOD:<\/strong> Bring Your Own Device; the practice of using personal devices to access University systems and data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Personal Devices:<\/strong> Smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other portable computing devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading display-3 heavy\">Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading display-4 heavy\">General Use<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Authorization:<\/strong> Only personal devices authorized by the Office of Information Technology may access McNeese State University systems and data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Compliance:<\/strong> Users must comply with all University policies, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/acceptable-use-of-information-technology-resourc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources Policy<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/information-technology-network-security-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Information Technology Network Security Policy<\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Personal Property Use<\/strong>: Personal property used on campus is done so at the owner\u2019s risk. Such property should be clearly marked as being non-University-owned property for audit purposes. Property housed at McNeese but not owned by the state is not insured.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading display-4 heavy\">Security Measures<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Password Protection:<\/strong> All personal devices must be password-protected in accordance with the University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/password-policy\/\" data-type=\"ie_policy\" data-id=\"16102\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Password Policy<\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Encryption:<\/strong> Devices accessing sensitive University data must support and enable encryption.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Anti-Malware:<\/strong> Devices must have up-to-date anti-malware software installed and actively running.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Software Updates:<\/strong> Users must ensure their devices run the latest versions of operating systems and installed applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading display-4 heavy\">Access and Usage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Data Access:<\/strong> University data must only be accessed through University-approved applications and services. Storing University data on personal devices is strictly prohibited.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Network Access:<\/strong> Personal devices may only connect to the University network through secure, University-managed connections such as VPN.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Monitoring:<\/strong> The University reserves the right to monitor and log all network traffic to and from personal devices accessing University systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading display-4 heavy\">Privacy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>McNeese State University respects the privacy of personal device users.
