{"id":13656,"date":"2021-08-10T11:28:35","date_gmt":"2021-08-10T16:28:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/?post_type=ie_policy&#038;p=13656"},"modified":"2024-08-21T09:33:46","modified_gmt":"2024-08-21T14:33:46","slug":"information-security-program-committee","status":"publish","type":"ie_policy","link":"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/information-security-program-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Information Security Program Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Information Security Program Committee is responsible for implementing and maintaining the\u00a0information\u00a0security\u00a0program.\u00a0The\u00a0committee is comprised of the\u00a0chief information officer, the\u00a0director of\u00a0IT administrative computing, the\u00a0registrar and director of admissions, the\u00a0comptroller, the\u00a0director of\u00a0the Office of\u00a0Financial Aid, the Bookstore\u00a0manager, the\u00a0director of\u00a0ticket\u00a0sales and operations (Athletics), and the\u00a0internal\u00a0auditor. In implementing this\u00a0program, the\u00a0committee works closely with relevant academic and administrative organizational units across campus.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The responsibilities of the&nbsp;committee include, but are not limited to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Consulting with responsible offices to identify organizational units with access to covered data, ensure all such units are included within the scope of this&nbsp;program, and maintain a current listing of these units.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with all relevant organizational units to identify potential and actual risks to the security and privacy of covered data; evaluate the effectiveness of current safeguards for controlling these risks; design and implement additional required safeguards; and regularly monitor and test the&nbsp;program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with appropriate organizational units to ensure adequate training and education programs are developed and provided to all employees with access to covered data; ensure existing policies and procedures that provide for the security of covered data are reviewed and adequate; and make recommendations for revisions to policy, or the development of new policy, as appropriate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consulting with responsible organizational units to identify service providers with access to covered data; ensure all such service providers are included within the scope of this&nbsp;program;&nbsp;and maintain a current listing of these service providers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reviewing the&nbsp;information&nbsp;security&nbsp;program, including this and related documents, annually, and&nbsp;adjusting&nbsp;as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintaining a current, written&nbsp;program that is available to the University community.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In carrying out these responsibilities, the&nbsp;committee may require organizational units with substantial access to covered data to develop and implement supplemental information security programs specific to those units, to provide the&nbsp;committee with copies of the program documents, and to designate responsible individuals to carry out activities necessary to implement this&nbsp;information&nbsp;security&nbsp;program.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Refer to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/information-security-program-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Information Security Program Policy<\/span><\/a> for additional information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"parent":0,"template":"","policy_types":[16],"class_list":["post-13656","ie_policy","type-ie_policy","status-publish","hentry","policy_types-committees-and-councils"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ie_policy\/13656","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ie_policy"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/ie_policy"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ie_policy\/13656\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":16002,"href":"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/ie_policy\/13656\/revisions\/16002"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=13656"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"policy_types","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/policy_types?post=13656"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
