McNeese to Present Duo Cintemani Recital

(October 21, 2016) The McNeese State University Performing Arts Department will present a free guest artist recital featuring Duo Cintemani - Rachel Taratoot Ciraldo on flute and Nicholas Ciraldo on guitar - at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, in Tritico Theatre of the Shearman Fine Arts Annex. The recital will feature: "The Enchanted Dawn" by Ravi Shankar; "Birthday Wish" by Matthew Van Brink; "Siete canciones populares Espafiolas" by Manuel de Falla; "Romanian Folk Dances" by Bela Bartok; from "Mountain Songs" by Robert Beaser; and "Blue Third Pieces" by Libby Larsen.

The couple will also split up to present master classes to students in their respective areas prior to the recital. Both classes will be held at 12:30 p.m. in rooms 207/208 of the SFAA and are open free to the public.

The duo has a "reputation for being distinctive, expressive and colorful." Early on, they were prizewinners at the 2004 National Flute Association Chamber Music Competition and semifinalists at the 2006 Gaettano Zinetti Chamber Music Competition in Italy.
The couple – who reside in Hattiesburg, Miss. - has performed in the Boston Flute Association Flute Fair, the Simsbury Chamber Music Festival, the Boston Classical Guitar Society Guitar Festival, FestivalSouth, the Pelican State Chamber Series, the Lamar Chamber Series and several other series across the country. The duo has also been featured artists at the Simposio academicomde violão, in Curitiba, Brazil. They have collaborated twice with the Community Partnerships Program of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and performed for the Austin Classical Guitar Society's Educational Outreach Program, among other organizations.
